Sphero SPRKers - Idea Generators
The year is 2016 and Emperor Kellius grows tired of the usual entertainment. It is time to have an EPIC ROBOTIC RACE he likes to call the SPHERO CHARIOT CHALLENGE!
Teams of 4 or 5 peasants will gather to assemble their chariots from materials that the Emperor himself has approved and race for the GLORY OF THE EMPIRE!
Each team may use:
- 1 borrowed Sphero Robot and charger for race day and practice
- Borrowed craft saws made of the finest metal in Caledonius
- Wooden sticks of various sizes (Your chariots MUST be mostly wooden)
- 2 CDs for back wheels (including rims) unless other wheels have been scavenged
- Hot glue to hold together the masterpiece (PLEASE no glue on the Emperor's robots)
- A wooden dowel to secure and spin the wheels
- Limited plastic utensils to add weaponry to chariots (maximum 2 inches from chariot body)
- A length of the Emperor's finest PINK silk
- Additional unexpected gifts should the Emperor inspect the Chariot and deem it EPIC!

Some members from each team will join race essential teams from time to time. Teams must choose a member to join each of the following teams.
I. Chariot Operandi - The students who will actually drive the chariot through the course on race day
II. Tractius Prepardenees - A team that will design, build, and maintain the track on race day collaboratively
III. Hearus Loudinious - A Team that will build website and social media updates on race progress including team names, chariot names, legendary chariot driver names and promotional hype for race day. They will also know all the rules on this site!
IV. Teamus Liassonus - A team member to meet with the Emperor and keep him informed of needs and progress

I. In your teams you will quickly decide the roles of the team members. Do this based on strengths and before the Emperor's first visit as he will wish to know. You could start with 2 drivers and see who emerges as the best hope for the team.
II. Begin as a team planning your chariot design and start gathering needed materials (perhaps storing the all in a box lid or other container)
III. Research online! Ancient Romans didn't have internet....YOU DO! Use it!
IV. When the Emperor calls for specialty teams leave your group and join the specialty team working on the mission at hand. Your specialty teams are equally as important as your racing team as you determine the success of race day and the Emperor's level of entertainment.
V. Manage your gear and guard the design of your chariot......there are spies among us who will sell your secrets to the highest paying team. Work hard to keep some surprises for your opponents.....BUT don't keep anything from the Emperor....he doesn't like race day surprises!
